The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Walker's Point Central Standard Distillery partnered up to create "The Phantom of the Opera"-themed cocktails that will be available throughout the engagement of the production.
"Considering ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ is wildly popular, we knew we'd be facing sellouts so it was important to us to create simple-yet-elegant cocktails that are flavor forward and don't take long to make," says Evan Hughes of Central Standard Distillery.
The main cocktail, aptly called The Phantom, features Central Standard Cabernet Bourbon as the base spirit because of its dark and mysterious appearance similar to the main character's.
"The fact that we finish the bourbon in cabernet wine barrels lends itself to the fact the Phantom is a lost soul in love, too," says Hughes.
"The Diva," another cocktail created for the show, is made primarily with Central Standard's Door County Cherry Vodka.
"Door County cherries are a little tart and in-your-face just like The Diva in the show," says Hughes. "We finish the cocktail with some potent ginger beer reminiscent of her potent voice."
Here are the complete recipes of the "Phantom of the Opera" cocktails:
The Diva
1.5 ounces Central Standard Door County Cherry Vodka
1 ounce cherry juice
5 ounces ginger ale
The Phantom
1.5 ounces Central Standard Cabernet Bourbon
.5 ounce Lime Juice
Top with Sprite and a dash of cranberry
The cocktails will be available before the show and during intermission. "Trying to match flavors with occasions is a lot of fun for our team," says Hughes. "And we think these turned out really amazing."
"The Phantom of the Opera" runs March 6-17 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. For more information or tickets, go here.
