Here's more:

Poets are encouraged to submit poems through Monday, Sept. 26 via e-mail to poetry@staff.onmilwaukee.com.

All poems must be about Milwaukee or include the word "Milwaukee."

First prize is a $100 gift certificate from Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops. A runner-up will win $40 gift certificates from Trocadero and Barossa.

A panel of poets will review poems the week of Sept. 26, including local poet Sue Silvermarie, WUWM "At Ten" producer Sea Stachura and the OMC editorial staff.

"The level of talent in this city continues to amaze us. OnMilwaukee.com is thrilled to celebrate and reward local writers through the city's only 'Milwaukee' poetry contest," says contest organizer Molly Snyder Edler.

Molly Snyder started writing and publishing her work at the age 10, when her community newspaper printed her poem, "The Unicorn.” Since then, she's expanded beyond the subject of mythical creatures and written in many different mediums but, nearest and dearest to her heart, thousands of articles for OnMilwaukee.

Molly is a regular contributor to FOX6 News and numerous radio stations as well as the co-host of "Dandelions: A Podcast For Women.” She's received five Milwaukee Press Club Awards, served as the Pfister Narrator and is the Wisconsin State Fair’s Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Champion of 2019.
