Inspired by the series finale of FX's “What We Do in the Shadows,” Pomona Cider Co., 2163 N. Farwell Ave., will transform into a vampire mansion for a What We Do in the Cider Haus pop-up, Oct. 29-Nov. 2.

Beginning on Oct. 29 with the “Blood Banquet” private dinner inspired by the Staten Island vampires of the television series.

Guests will get a “welcome blood bag beverage on arrival, a special cider uncasking,” and a meal with “luxurious dishes such as; roasted duck, buttery nightshades, and a series of decadent desserts.”

The dark fun continues on Oct. 30 with Vampire the Masquerade vampire-themed Role Playing Game (RPG) sessions that include “a blood bag on arrival, and a personal snack board.” Participation in the game isn’t required.

There were be Halloween parties on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 with DJs and costume contests for which guests can dress as their favorite characters from the mockumentary, plus “a blood bag on arrival, bloody popcorn, and a special trinket.”

Finally, on Nov. 2, there will be a brunch and themed activities.

The pop-up is being curated with Awkward Nerd Events.

According to Pomona’s co-owner Tom Gabert, the pop-up will immerse fans with decor, themed drinks and food.

"Our team has crafted incredibly fun and delicious drinks and dishes for this immersive experience," said Gabert. "With the series conclusion fresh in everyone’s mind, this event is the perfect way to continue celebrating the world created by the show.

"We wanted to create a truly unique Halloween experience for our patrons, and Awkward Nerd Events was the perfect partner to bring this vision to life. Their passion for pop culture and attention to detail will make this event something truly special."

Tickets for the dinner are $150, the RPG night is $30 and the Halloween parties cost $25 each. Tickets for the brunch are not yet posted.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.

He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.

With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.

He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.

In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.

He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
