{image1}Photographer Ian Pritchard was born and raised in Scotland, but his current passion is snapping stills of Milwaukee.

"I believe there is beauty everywhere; sometimes it just takes a little work to tease it out," says Pritchard, who came to Milwaukee eight years ago.

"I came to the U.S. and Milwaukee looking for adventure. I was planning to work my way around the world over several years, but within a few weeks of coming here I met my wife-to-be and stuck around."

His wife, Lynn, plays a significant role in his photography. She mats and frames all of his sellable images, which is a compliment to her skills. "I'm very picky about my prints because I want my work to be enjoyed for decades," says Pritchard.

Pritchard, who works full time in the IT industry, found Milwaukee to be an incredibly inspirational city. So much so that he started a Web site called Milwaukeephotos.com, showcasing his color photos of Brew City, including his favorite that was taken after a thunderstorm on Brady Street.

"Milwaukee is a beautiful city. It has great architecture with many styles scrambled together. This makes for great juxtapositions -- the old rubbing shoulders with the new, the huge looming over the delicate," says Pritchard, who lives in Shorewood.

He also sees incredible photo opportunities at summer festivals and street life and feels Wisconsin's inconsistent and unpredictable weather produces pleasing and unusual lighting conditions.

"This suits my style very well, because I love to use natural light and shadow to reveal things we don't see every day," he says.

Ian Pritchard's photos will be available at the Three Holy Women Art and Craft Fair on Saturday, March 19, and the Grant Park Garden Club Art Fair on Saturday, March 26.

His Web site is www.Milwaukeephotos.com
