Get ready for a taste of the fair and a taste of the fall in a single bite, as the Wisconsin State Fair will introduce a brand new limited edition flavor of cream puff exclusively this weekend: pumpkin spice.

The new fall-inspired sweet treats will be available beginning Thursday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 4 via curbside pick-up at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis.

“The innovative ideas continue,” said Kathleen O’Leary, Wisconsin State Fair Park CEO, in a release. “We are so pleased to be offering this new twist on a Wisconsin State Fair signature food favorite. For the first time in history, we are offering Cream Puffs outside of the traditional 11-day State Fair timeframe, and offering a new flavor is really something special.”

And how do these new PSL puffs actually taste? OnMilwaukee dining editor Lori Fredrich and I virtually gathered for a FoodCrush Live taste test to find out if they're gourd or bad.

The new pumpkin spice cream puffs cost $12 for a three-pack and $22 for a six-pack, with delivery options for orders of a dozen or more available for a fee. These fluffy fall feasts will only be available for a limited time and are sure to go fast, so the State Fair does recommend pre-ordering your PSL-inspired puffs, either online or by calling (414) 266-7111.

As for picking up your seasonal snacks, vehicles are asked to enter State Fair Park though Gate 5, found at 640 S. 84th Street. The pick-up spot will be open Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., as well as on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more information on fall festivities this very unsual season.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
