Recently, I was having a chat over a pint with Eoin McCarthy from Whiskey of the Damned and told him that OnMilwaukee was hosting a holiday sock drive for The Robyn’s Nest.
He immediately came up with the idea to have a benefit show, and by the very next day had organized Punk Rock For Socks. I am blown away by how a single conversation led to so much action.
The event takes place this Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Sabbatic, 700 S. 2nd St., starting at 6:30 p.m. Performers include Anna Bohn (of oncethesun), Pip Blank, One Six Syndicate, Lauren Ruka, Tom Ramstad (of Morrigan) and McCarthy.
The show is free, but guests are encouraged to bring new or gently used socks for kids in any size. Socks are an often-overlooked donation item and The Robyn's Nest, which is part of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, can always use them.
Kids need socks? Punk rock's on it!
