WYMS-FM 88.9, known as "RadioMilwaukee," hopes to be in a new space by the end of the summer or early fall of 2013.

The 5-year-old radio station is in the process of trying to buy a building at 158 S. Barclay St. in the Walker's Point neighborhood.

"This is not a done deal," says executive director Mary Louise Mussoline. "But we're very excited. We want to be active and vibrant in the community – and more functional."

RadioMilwaukee is currently located in the basement of the MPS administrative building, 5225 W. Vliet St. The station has additional office space in a storefront about a block away at 5312 W. Vliet.

Mussoline says the organization made an offer on the building (which has not yet been accepted) and is in the process of raising capital for the $2.5 million project.

The multi-purpose space would house the station and staff and be used for performances, programs and community meetings.
