When one door closes, another opens.
In the world of broadcast radio, it is a tough business. The advancements in technology meant it takes far less people to develop, edit and present programming. So the precious jobs that are available are few and far between.
One person who understands it is Rahny Taylor.
The former morning show host on WXXS-FM 103.7 KISS FM announced earlier this week that he will be the new assistant programing director with the K-LOVE Radio Network.
"When I applied for the K-LOVE position, I didn’t think I would hear back from them," Taylor said as he was preparing boxes for his move.
"I applied for tons of jobs and heard nothing back."
Taylor left KISS in August, when the station hired Andy Riggs from WRNW-FM 97.3 Radio Now.
For this new post, Taylor will be relocating to Rocklin, Calif., near Sacramento.
"I knew I had to be open minded. I wanted a new opportunity, a new challenge – and this one jumped out," he said.
For those unfamiliar with K-LOVE, it is a contemporary Christian network which features music, ministry and positive news. It is available on air throughout the nation, and online. In Milwaukee, the signal is heard on WFZH-FM 105.3.
"It’s been an ongoing joke, that my wife has never listened to me in CHR (contemporary hits radio)," Taylor said of working in Top 40 music and his better half listening to Christian music on the air. "Something like this never seemed obtainable … never possible."
With the move, Taylor will be able to have an influence on 446 signals in 48 different states. That’s a large move from a single station in Milwaukee, or even the entire Entercom group of stations in our market.
"We are very excited to have Rahny join our K-LOVE family. With his experience in radio and his passion to combine his skills with his love for the Lord, there is no question he will be an excellent addition to our team," K-LOVE director of programming Chuck Pryor said in a release.
Taylor has come a long way from the, "scary and exciting time" he had in August, and starts his new role on Dec. 2.
VIRAL: If I remember it right, the film was "Bloodsport."
Jean-Claude Van Damme is balancing on the corner of a balcony, doing the splits, as part of his workout and warm-up routine. The martial artist and big screen star recently did a small screen commercial for Volvo, showcasing the physical prowess of his now 53-year-old frame.
This film is part of a series that has been made to showcase different features of the auto maker’s trucks. The short has gone viral with 36.5 million views and going.
Now, there was plenty of safety rigging in case if something went wrong. However, the story is that this sequence was done in a single take. As Enya sings, "who can say where the road goes …" take a look for yourself and see how amazing it truly is.
