The Great Milwaukee Summer is HERE! Your guide to what you'll be doing, where you'll be drinking, who you'll be hearing and how you'll be getting a sweet tan this summer is on OnMilwaukee. The Great Milwaukee Summer guide is brought to you by Educators Credit Union and Harley-Davidson Museum

The Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 are partnering to bring back the internationally touring installation “Evanescent” by Atelier Sisu to the MPAC Outdoor Grounds for five days only – Tuesday, July 18 through Saturday, July 22.

Capitalizing on the success of “Lightfield” by HYBYCOZO that transformed Cathedral Square Park into an immersive public art installation, “Evanescent” by Atelier Sisu will feature larger-than-life “art-chitecture” which is the intersection of art and architecture.

This inflatable, large-scale art display is 1,400 square yards. By day, Evanescent is made from a color-reflecting dichroic film that reacts to the changing light of the sun as it moves across the sky, causing a rainbow of reflection across the ground and a unique picture from every angle.

By emulating the ethereal quality and magic of bubbles, Atelier Sisu’s Evanescent aims to appeal to universal playfulness and childlike wonder.  The work encourages the audience to consider the world around them as a space of transience and fragility, like that of a bubble.

As part of Rainbow Summer: HIGHLIGHT featuring Evanescent, each night will feature a free public performance with live music from local and regional artists, vendor markets, food trucks, activities and more.

Performances are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. nightly, with a special Family Night planned for Saturday, July 22 that will begin at 6 p.m.

Featured musicians are Funkadesi on Tuesday, July 18; Melody Angel on Wednesday, July 19; ESSO on Thursday, July 20; Eclipse on Friday, July 21 and Mucca Pazza on Saturday, July 22.

“We are elated to expand on our partnership with Milwaukee Downtown to bring this world-renowned installation to our community alongside a diverse selection of musical artists for Rainbow Summer: HIGHLIGHT featuring Evanescent,” said Jared Duymovic, MPAC Vice President of Programming & Engagement.
