Benno's Bar & Grill
7413 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis
(414) 453-9094

Blending the best parts of a corner tavern and destination bar, Benno's, 7413 W. Greenfield Ave., is an excellent choice for a laid-back night out.

Menu: With 30 beers on tap, you'll find something for everybody in your group. Plus, a full food menu -- including one of the better Friday fish fries around -- make it a great stop for dinner, too.

Price: You won't break the bank here; prices for bottles and taps are consistent with just about any other bar and nightly specials like $2.25 pints on Thursdays, keep a trip to Benno's affordable.

When to go: On weeknights, you'll find affordable specials and a handful of regulars at the bar. Benno's is an underrated alternative on the weekends, if you're looking for a little less hassle.

Dress: This isn't some swanky and pretentious club. Come as you are, so long as you're decent. Jeans and T-shirts work just fine but nobody will give you a hard time if you show up late-night in a shirt and tie from a prior engagement.

Don't miss: The giant "restrooms" sign from Milwaukee County Stadium perched over the doorways to the men's and women's rooms.

Parking: Plenty of parking is available along Greenfield Avenue, and there also are municipal lots behind the bar.
