Milwaukee is a famous beer town, but make no mistake about it – we're serious about our wine, too. The city's diverse dining scene offers some great wine lists. So when we asked readers to vote for their favorite, who came out on top? Balzac, of course.

Balzac Wine Bar at 1716 N. Arlington Pl. has a wide selection of international and domestic sparkling, white, red, rose, port, sherry and nearly everything else.

Balzac's offering appeals to the seasoned connoisseur as well as the casual social drinker, with options ranging from the 2002 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru of the Burgundy region of France (only $180 a bottle!) to the $30-a-bottle Vignerons "Le Haut Vignot" Chenin Blanc from Anjou.

Diners also love Balzac's selection of small-plate fare including crab cakes, cheese plates and even flatbread pizza. Sunday brunch is served weekly from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Happy Hour is a daily affair Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Unsurprisingly, Bacchus was a close second, trailing Balzac by only 5% of the vote. editors' choice: Dream Dance Steak
