On Wednesday, July 20, Milwaukee leaders will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Milwaukee Riverwalk District, as well as the completion of an Americans with Disabilities Act project that makes the Riverwalk accessible to persons of all abilities from end to end thanks to the addition of five wheelchair lifts and four ramps. 

The Riverwalk currently stretches 3.7 miles – now completely accessible to all thanks to part of a $5 million American with Disabilities Act project – with an additional mile under construction and future plans to add 1.2 miles to the Downtown corridor. 

A press conference and ribbon-cutting will take place at 5:15 p.m. on the Riverwalk on the west side of the Milwaukee River and south of Kilbourn Avenue. The conference and ribbon-cutting will be followed by a reception at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Scheduled to attend the ceremony and celebration are Mayor Tom Barrett, former Mayor John Norquist, Independence First president and CEO Lee Schulz, and several other business, community and political leaders.
