Wisconsin will once again likely play a key role in the next presidential election as the Republican National Committee's Site Selection Committee recommended Milwaukee as the location for the 2024 Republican National Convention.

“In just four years' time, two of the largest and most visible global events have put Milwaukee on the top of their list,” says VISIT Milwaukee President & CEO Peggy Williams-Smith, in a release. "It is no surprise the RNC chose Milwaukee. Our city offers world-class amenities alongside top-tier venues and unmatched hospitality, making us well equipped to welcome tens of thousands of visitors."

The decision is not yet finalized as the RNC still needs to vote on this recommendation at its summer meeting, hosted in early August.

The RNC's choices near the end were mainly between Milwaukee and Nashville, with the latter putting its bid in question by pulling a bill agreement with the RNC earlier this month. Milwaukee, on the other hand, rather eagerly campaigned for the political event, including everyone from local politicians to tourism organizations and business figures.

Milwaukee most recently hosted the Democratic National Convention in 2020 – or "hosted," as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the DNC to alter and shrink many of its plans in the city, mostly going virtual with key election figures spread across the country and Milwaukee serving as a hub for the presentation.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
