MILWAUKEE – OnMilwaukee.com announced today the hiring of veteran sports journalist Doug Russell to the daily magazine's editorial staff. Russell, a winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award, joins OnMilwaukee.com as a columnist and sportswriter.

"We're excited to bring Doug on board," said OnMilwaukee.com co-founder and publisher Andy Tarnoff. "In addition to his contributions as a talented writer, Doug also brings us versatility with his extensive multimedia experience."

Prior to joining OnMilwaukee.com, Russell served as the host of WSSP-AM's morning show. In addition to his duties at OnMilwaukee.com, Russell will continue to cover the national sports beat for the syndicated Yahoo! Sports Radio. Earlier in his career, Doug worked at Sporting News Radio and WTMJ-AM.

Honored by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, Midwest Broadcast News Association and Wisconsin Communications Association, Russell is an Emmy nominee. He has worked the Wisconsin sports beat for more than 20 years.

"I can't wait to get started," Russell said. "There are literally no limits to what we can do here at OnMilwaukee.com, especially considering how talented and diverse the rest of the editorial staff is. I have a deep passion for sports and a deep passion for Milwaukee. Let's go!"

At OnMilwaukee.com, Russell will bring a mix of thoughtful sports commentary and analysis, as well as "outside the lines" feature reporting. The Waukesha native and UW-Oshkosh graduate will also contribute with regular audio and video blogs. His daily features on OnMilwaukee.com begin on Monday, Nov. 14.
