Because it's been such an uneventful time in Wisconsin sports recently, the Brewers announced today that retired star outfielder Ryan Braun will be honored with a spot on the team's Walk of Fame this season.
The Walk of Fame features 22 Brewers greats honored with home plate-shaped plaques embedded on the grounds outside of American Family Field – 23 now with the inclusion of Braun. The most recent additions to the Walk of Fame – elected by Wisconsin media members and Brewers executives – include Ben Sheets in 2023, Prince Fielder in 2022 and Geoff Jenkins in 2018. A full list of Walk of Fame members can be found here.
"I am very humbled and honored to be recognized among the Brewers greats,” Braun said, in a release. “I want to thank my teammates, coaches, ownership and support staff for their many contributions over the course of my career. None of this would be possible without the love and encouragement of my family, friends and fans. I am forever grateful. Milwaukee will always be a second home to me and my family."
Across his 14-year career in Milwaukee, Braun hit .296 with a franchise-topping 352 home runs, 1,963 hits – good for third-most in Brewers history – and 1,154 RBIs, only the second player in team history to break the 1,000 mark along with Robin Yount. During his Milwaukee tenure, Braun was named an all-star six times, became only the second Brewer to earn Rookie of the Year in 2007 (Devin Williams would become the third in 2020) and won Most Valuable Player in 2011.
Along the way, he also did stuff like this:
“We are excited to honor Ryan, one of the most talented players in Brewers history, with his induction into the Walk of Fame," said Brewers Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold, in the release. "Ryan was not just at the heart of teams that featured an explosive offense, he also was one of the most clutch players in big moments during his years with the Brewers.
"Further, Ryan has been deeply engaged with numerous community causes through Brewers Community Foundation, and he maintains that commitment today. We look forward to welcoming Ryan and his family back to celebrate this achievement this summer."
Indeed, Braun's spot on the Walk of Fame will be made official with a ceremony held during the upcoming season, with a date and details to be announced later.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
