America SCORES Milwaukee will host a holiday shopping night at the Harry W. Schwartz Bookshop, 2262 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is a fundraiser for America SCORES Milwaukee. A portion of the evening's in-store sales will help fund expansion of America Scores, an after-school program in Milwaukee that offers soccer to urban youth while teaching kids to express themselves through creative writing.
Throughout the evening, SCORES poet-athletes from Hayes Bilingual, James Whitcomb Riley, Windlake and 21st Street elementary schools will recite original works of poetry written during participation in America SCORES Milwaukee.
The event will feature appearances by Milwaukee Wave players Marcelo Fontana and Joey Di Buono.
