Welcome to Saturday Scorecard. With the Brewers on national TV this afternoon, trucks and cars trying to dry the track at the Milwaukee Mile and the best golfers in the world snorkeling their way around Bethpage Black, we promise to keep things short and sweet.

It's summer in Wisconsin -- blink and you'll miss it.

Rain, rain go away: Two thoughts were unavoidable while watching the Brewers-Tigers game last night from Comerica Park. Both are obvious, but worth restating.

1. The Brewers are going to need more pitching.

2. The Brewers, as currently constructed, probably couldn't hack life in the American League.

3. Putting a retractable roof on Miller Park was one of the smarter decisions the folks in charge around here have made in years.

We begin with the latter. It's human nature to block out the memory of painful experiences, which is why people run multiple marathons or go through childbirth for a second time.

Few things are as boring as watching a grounds crew play the tarp-on, tarp-off game and sitting through a rain delay. You never know if it's worth hanging around or leaving.

The people in Minnesota are going to rue their decision not to slap a roof on their new ballpark.

As for pitching, most of it falls on the starters, who are suddenly struggling to work past the sixth (or even the fifth) inning. The toll will be felt on the setup staff -- guys like Todd Coffey, Seth McClung, Mark DiFelice and Carlos Villanueva -- who could see a decrease in productivity or an increase in arm problems.

There aren't any CC Sabathia-type pitchers on the market, but it seems almost certain that the Brewers will have to add at least one starting pitcher before the trading deadline expires. Help could come from Seattle, Colorado or anywhere. But, it has to come.

As for life in the junior circuit, the Brewers have too many holes in their lineup to slug with the big bats in the American League. Not having the DH slot has impacted the way Doug Melvin has constructed his roster.

Melvin has said several times that it's tough to get players at-bats without the DH.

Getting to the point: Arizona forward Jordan Hill, who worked out for the Bucks Friday at the Cousins Center, is an exciting player with an engaging personality and a seemingly high ceiling for success in the NBA.

That's why he may or may not be around when the Bucks make the 10th pick in the draft next week.

The Bucks could use help at power forward, but it seems almost certain that they will take a point guard to help brace for the anticipated loss of Ramon Sessions.

With talented candidates like Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Jonny Flynn, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson and Stephen Curry on the board, the Bucks can get a quality point guard.

As my radio partner Dan Needles from Channel 12 points out, the Bucks haven't had a lot of success drafting point guards in the first round (Gary Brokaw, Quinn Buckner, Scott Skiles, Lee Mayberry, Stephon Marbury and T.J. Ford top the list). Only two of the Bucks' last 26 first-round picks have represented Milwaukee in the All-Star Game: Vin Baker and Glenn Robinson.

Larry King Lounge: What is Nick Collins thinking?... Five days after Brett Favre appeared on "Joe Buck Live" and all anybody can remember from the show is Artie Lange. We've said it before. Favre is going to play for the Vikings.... Rooting for Tiger Woods is like cheering for U.S. Steel, except it's not. Golf -- particularly major championships -- is just better when Woods is in contention.... Has it really been 15 years since O.J. led us on a Bronco chase?... The state will be well represented at the World University Games. Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan is leading the squad, which will feature Marquette's Lazar Hayward as a forward and UWM's Rob Jeter as an assistant.... The Iron kept its slim playoff hopes alive with a 60-41 victory over Quad City Friday night at the Bradley Center. Todd Hammel threw for five touchdowns as Milwaukee improved to 5-7.... The Brewers are facing Alfredo Figaro, who is making his big-league debut this afternoon in Detroit. With Figaro and Placido Polanco on the roster, the Tigers lead the majors in "players most likely to be mistaken for opera stars."... Wait a minute -- did Prince Fielder just drive in another run?... Flooding knocked out power Friday at Miller Park and caused damage in the service level and clubhouse.
