The Brewers got some encouraging news on the Ben Sheets front today.

The right-hander, who left the mound after three innings Wednesday at Wrigley Field, underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam Thursday morning in Milwaukee and was diagnosed with a slightly strained right groin.

According to the Brewers, Sheets felt much better, underwent treatment after the MRI and will join the team in Houston for a weekend series beginning Friday. Sheets is listed as probably for his next scheduled start, which would be against St. Louis on Tuesday night at Miller Park. Because of a day off Thursday, the Brewers could probably skip Sheets' turn without sending him to the disabled list.

If Sheets is unable to pitch and needs to go on the disabled list, the Brewers likely will move Carlos Villanueva into the rotation.
