The Shorewood BID will host their first-ever North Shore Bank Shorewood Feast, a day-long community block party and collaborative harvest dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The event, which is made possible with support from North Shore Bank, the Shorewood Foundation and Wisconsin Foodie, will take place between the 4200 - 4400 blocks of Oakland Avenue (between Blue’s Egg Shorewood and Draft & Vessel).
Festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. with a block party featuring a variety of activities for kids and families (from giant Jenga to face-painting, crafts and a cornhole tournament), two stages of live music, cheese tastings hosted by Larry’s Market in collaboration with the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and a beer tent hosted by Draft & Vessel. Guests will also be invited to peruse and purchase wares from local artisans and food from a variety of vendors including Funky Fresh Spring Rolls and Iron Grate BBQ.
In the evening, Oakland Avenue will also play host to a special harvest dinner featuring the talents of area chefs from Cloud Red, North Shore Boulangerie and Blue’s Egg along with Shorewood native, Mitchell Wakefield of Tess. Beverages will be provided by Draft & Vessel and will include a special beer created for the event by Third Space Brewing Co.
The dinner will be comprised of two seatings of up to 100 guests who will be seated at a long table which will extend down Oakland Avenue. Chefs will work with Shorewood Farmers Market farm vendors and Teens Grow Greens to source seasonal local ingredients for the feast.
The first seating, which will take place at 4:30 p.m., will consist of five courses served family style with tickets priced at $65 each. A second seating will feature seven plated courses for $99 per person or $145 with beverage pairings.
"This event is really a celebration of both community of food," says Arthur Ircink, President of the Shorewood Village BID. "It’s been in the works for a number of years, but we finally have the combination of people needed to really make it happen."
