In order to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the seven-person Shorewood Village Board voted unanimously late Wednesday night to pass an ordinance requiring masks in public indoor spaces.

As first reported by FOX 6, the mandate will require masks on anyone aged 4 years or older in indoor places open to the public. A set of outdoor mask requirements was in the original draft of the ordinance, but was removed during Wednesday evening's meeting.

According to FOX 6, village officials are still in the process of finalizing details such as the new ordinance's effective date, though the mandate could go in to effect in Shorewood as soon as next week, with those caught disobeying the ordinance expected to receive a written warning and educational materials from the village.

The Milwaukee Common Council is expected to discuss a mask mandate of its own during a Public Safety & Health Committee meeting set for 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, before convening for a special full Common Council meeting on Tuesday, July 14 at 1:30 p.m. Several Milwaukee businesses – including OnMilwaukee – have called on the city to enact a mask ordinance in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep businesses and citizens as safe as possible.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
