As I'm sure you did, I got a fair amount text messages on Valentine's Day. Friends and family chimed in, some serious and some funny. My wife and I, though, did the old-school card thing. Ah, the enduring art of the Hallmark card.

Officially, the SMS numbers for this St. Valentine's Day are in. Verizon Wireless says that its customers sent 1.4 billion text messages on Saturday. This is up more than 600 million from the same day last year.

Multimedia messages sent to loved ones and friends with images, audio or video, also increased from 21.4 million last year to 33.5 million this Valentine's Day. This number was up more than 12 million.

That's a lot of LUV.
