The "Social Circle" is a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.
It’s finally convertible weather in Milwaukee and so some lucky drivers get to cruise around with the top down – whereas others can only dream.
In the spirit of those dreams, OnMilwaukee.com asked the Social Circle this week what their ideal vehicle is and responses ranged from a ’69 Chevelle to the General Lee.
What’s your dream machine?
Jill Albers: "The General Lee or the Champion Chicken mobile. Do I really need a reason?"
Nathaniel Bauer: "2007 Aston Martin Vanquish S Ultimate Edition (the first one available with manual transmission)."
Brian Brehmer: "1969 Chevelle SS 396. Red with black interior and red racing stripes. Fell in love with it first time I saw one."
Kat Froelich: "Volkswagen Cabrio, manual transmission, GLX, triple black (black interior, exterior and top). I own this car. It's actually my second. I only want to drive these for the rest of my life!"
Amy Gray: "I yearn for an old bread truck with rounded corners. Because some of them have real charm and you can fit a lot of stuff in them (like theater sets and puppet shows and all my belongings because I move often)."
Cathy Grunwalt: "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!"
Dana Hall: "Something that a carseat will never fit in. My reason? I have had carseats in my car for the last 15 years!"
Scott Jackson: "59' Cadillac. More metal."
Kent Knapp: "'49 chopped Mercury."
Erin Linnane: "Batmobile. If I have to explain why, you wouldn't get it anyway."
Christopher Lynn: "Lamborghini Sesto Elemento."
Lisa Malmorowski: "El Camino. Late ‘60s to early ‘70s version please."
Wendy Mesich: "El Camino. It was my first car and I beat it to death. I promise to take care of my next one. I also dream of paint shimmery metallic purple, with under lights and a rear facing bucket seat mounted in the truck."
"College Dave" Mikolajek: "The car from ‘Back to the Future’ so I could go back in time and lay big scratch on major sporting events like Biff Tannen did."
AmyMizialko: "Convertible. Totally. Wind, sun, awesome."
John Southmayd: "A '67 Jaguar XKE coupe. But not the 2+2 version – they look like a Jaguar in a top hat."
Carrie Torres: "Material dreams don’t exist for me."
