The "Social Circle" is a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.

Flare, skinny, tapered, straight, boot cut, narrow bottom, low waist, anti-fit, blue, black, stonewashed, acid washed, brightly colored, patterned, grey.

Jeans – invented in 1873 – come in so many different styles. Since the ‘50s, they have been extremely popular and today continue to be what one person in the Social Circle calls "the American uniform."

In honor of Retail Week at OnMilwaukee.com, we asked the group how much they spend on jeans. Once again, responses ranged greatly, from $0 to $500.

How much have you spent on denim dungarees?

Sarah Berg: "About $100, although I look to spend less on the same brand when I can."

Josh Christiansen: "I went shopping with a girl once. Next thing I knew I was wearing $80 jeans I didn’t even like. Didn't go shopping with a girl the next time."

Kay Collins: "$98. Just can't see spending $100."

Beth De Bord: "$179."

Stephanie Deutsch: "No more than $27. But I need to go shopping for some nice jeans."

Brandy Glass-Lucchesi: "$72."

Amy Zing Gray: "I do not partake in the American uniform. $0."

Steven Hawley: "I spent $500 on a pair of Bad Idea jeans."

Tina Hulen: "$30."

Kent Knapp: "50 cents. Marlene’s."

Beth Eaton Knepler: "$150 and I'm telling you I chose wisely. They have been the longest lasting jeans and they look great! Price per wear? Probably somewhere around 23 cents."

Tammy Kolbe: "$40 at Target."

Dan Krass: "I don't wear denim. $0."

Claudine Lienau: "I splurged at Goodwill and bought a brand new pair. It was marked $14.99, but it was half-price day."

Carrie Schubert McKenzie: "Just over $100 on The Perfect Pair. I've worn them so much the cost per wear is well below $1 per wear now! I've had them for about three years."

Milinda Lee Mueller: "$75."

Amy Mizialko: "$70."

Michele Berg Pavlovic: "$180."

Maria Holden Raboin: "Pre marriage and baby: $200 but with a 40 percent discount because I worked for the company."

Ashley Radonski: "On a pair of GUESS jeans! $100-something."

Timothy Rehorst: "$40."

Maggie Skinner: "When I was a stupid teen with money to waste? Easily $100. Now? No more than $30. They last the same amount of time, too."

Jen Skladanek: "If I spend $50 that's pushin' it for me."
