Welcome to a weekly segment called "Social Circle." It's truly a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.
Even though it seems like we barely had a winter, spring officially starts in a few weeks. For some, thoughts turn to gardens, vacations and plans to undo the results of the couch potato season. Whether it's "swimsuit fear" or simply the desire to be healthier, a lot of people let the onset of spring motivate them.
This week, OnMilwaukee.com asked the Social Circle to weigh in about whether they're feeling inspired by the fact it's now March or if they simply don't care. Chime in with your thoughts via the Talkback feature.
John Adler: "If it's over 55 degrees (arbitrarily chosen temp) I bring out the bike and go for a ride. Also, as soon as tax day comes I stop eating roast beef and mayo and instead only eat celery and mayo! Thank you, Paula Deen!"
Rosemary Brunetto: "Oh, I wish!"
Dana Carlson: "I tried on swimming suits at Target last weekend and instantly cut out desserts, cheese and bacon. This bacon craze has truly gone to my hips."
Celesté Contreras: "No."
Laura Danhauser: "Soon there will be many bike riders (ditch the cars) and the opening of the farmers markets for cheaper fresh veggies and fruits."
Betsy Holmes: "I had not thought of it. Spring is already in the air: asparagus and green beans and daffodils on display, long muddy trudges in warmth-tinged air. Ah, spring tra la la ..."
Brian Kramp: "I've decided to have only two different kinds of ice cream in my freezer at one time. And it sucks."
Lena R. Martinez: "Yes!"
Amy Mizialko: "I always eat less and healthier and move more in spring / summer."
Anne Noble: "Meh. Not really. I'll just complain more about my weight soon."
Jenny Olin-Fox: "Yes."
Michael Stodola: "Yes. But more than 'swimsuit' fear there's something truly inspirational about spring. It's the mating, the planting, the end of hibernation."
Mary Thompson: "It makes me think about it."
Jeffrey S. Wright: "No, but getting winded after climbing a flight of stairs does."
