The "Social Circle" is a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.

This week, OnMilwaukee.com polled the Social Circle for its favorite Wisconsin vacation spots. A lot of shout outs for Door County and other lush "Up North" places. And one vote for the Sybaris.

Where’s your favorite place in the state to escape?

Kelly Briskie: "Minocqua."

Michael Buehler: "New Glarus. Great brewery tour and cool little Downtown."

Tim Conè: "Sybaris?"

Kenyata Davis: "Wisconsin Dells."

Amy Hanson: "American Players Theatre back-to-back plays and a weekend in Spring Green."

Jenny Steinman Heyden: "Illinois? Sorry, not helpful. How about Madison?"

Betsy Holmes: "Spring Green is nice. Also, the St. Croix River near the Minnesota border."

Sue Jaeck: "Green Bay."

William Ivy Jenkins: "Sister Bay."

Caroline Johnson: "Green Lake. One-and-a-half hours north of Milwaukee. Great little town, a wonderful fish fry and a very fantastic local artist named Lester O. Schwartz."

Claudine Lienau: "Shawano Lake, Mauthe Lake, Door County, Fish Creek, Sheboygan."

Erin Shea Linnane: "Love Bong (Recreation Area) for camping."

John Lottes: "Washington Island Door County. The Nantucket of the Midwest."

Lisa Malmarowski: "Only two places in my book: Door County or the Driftless area – Viroqua to Spring Green."

Susan Molls: "Turtle Lake, at my dad’s place."

Jeff Pawlinski: "In the DC (Door County). No question."

Tommy Riewe: "Door County, hands down. So many scenic locations and great shops. So much to discover if you take the time. Even in the off-season there's plenty to see and do, all without the huge touristy crowds. Winery tours all year long!"

James Rowen: "County Clare Inn on Milwaukee's lower east side is within walking distance of just about everything cool near the Downtown."

Kathy Schacht: "The Northwoods."

Renee Scherck-Meyer: "Devil's Lake. Elroy / Sparta Trail. Apostle Islands."

Toni Spott: "On a boat!"

Laura Stratte: "Anywhere along the Wisconsin River for canoeing / kayaking. It's heavenly."

Laron Taylor: "Any booth at any fair!"

Jim Thompson: "Hartman Creek State Park. Hit up the Central Waters Brewery tour."

Bonnie Timm: "We live in the country so we love to go to Milwaukee. Stay at the Brewhouse, Brewer game, shop, eat, drink."
