A month ago, we announced the two headlining bands for this year's East Side Summer Soulstice Music Festival: Milwaukee's own bluegrass punks the .357 String Band, and Detroit's claim to '90s fame, Sponge.

The festival powers that be have since rounded out the rest of the line up and it's chock full of Milwaukee talent. Will Phalen & The Stereo Addicts, The Celebrated Workingman, Sandcarvers and The Lovelies will take the stage at the 10th anniversary of the festival on Saturday, June 19. A full lineup will be announced later this month.

In addition to the day's main stage music, the fest kicks off at noon with the East Side Green Market, Division BMX, a climbing wall, Milwaukee's Rage in the Cage Dodgeball Tournament and a burrito eating contest.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
