Prospect Mall will close for good on Sunday, June 25, after more than 30 years of housing some of Milwaukee's most innovative -- and bizarro -- retail establishments, including Thai Joe's, Video Visions, Recycled Books & Music, Sun of Kenilworth, Kosta's, Star Spin, La Petite France, Bangkok Orchid, Body Ritual and many more. The Prospect Mall Cinema, a Marcus Theater that opened in 1976, was the mall's anchor business.

The real estate investors who bought the mall in 2004 have not disclosed what they plan to do with the 41,900-sq.-ft. space. So what do you think should go there? Restaurants? Condos? Green space? A massive Alterra expansion?

E-mail us at soundoff@staff.onmilwaukee.com and if picked, we'll post your response next Sunday. Only submissions that include your full name and where you live will be considered.

Last week's questions: Is there anything we can really do about gun violence?

Of course there is, but our governor vetoed it twice. In the states that allow concealed carry of handguns, violent crime goes way down, with a small increase in non violent crime. Gov. Doyle talks about "more guns on the street" being more dangerous, but it hasn't happened in the states that have passed such laws. Does that mean he thinks Wisconsin citizens are less trustworthy than citizens in other states? Apparently.

The situation is out of hand, and I feel pretty hopeless about it. "Good" jobs have been replaced by crappy, service jobs and overpopulation in the central city is a big problem. I don't want to be a pessimist, but I honestly don't know what we can do.
