While you still have to wait another month or so for the Traveling Beer Garden to begin making – and serving – the rounds, at least one of the Milwaukee Parks beer gardens is on tap to open in less than a week.
As first reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the South Shore Terrace beer garden – launched in 2015 by Milwaukee County Parks in partnership with MillerCoors – will crack open (depending on the weather) the start of beer garden season with an opening-day celebration on Wednesday, April 12.
Festivities at the lake-overlooking locale will begin at 4 p.m. with a ceremonial keg tapping, free beer and root beer (while supplies last), plus live music from Noah John and Ringing Iron playing until 8 p.m. According to the Journal Sentinel, the venue has a few new additions for the upcoming season, as well, including new menu options and extra seating.
Located at 2900 S. Shore Drive, the South Shore Terrace beer garden will be open during the summer, Wednesday through Friday from 4-10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. And pro tip: They only take cash, so come prepared or use the nearby ATM.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
