The South Milwaukee Downtown Market has announced its 2011 free music lineup, a five-concert series sponsored by the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center (SMPAC).

Here are the events, which take place the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

June 2 – Choir Fight
July 7 – Fat Babies
Aug. 4 – Glenn Asch & Chris Hanson Swingtet, featuring singer Rae Cassidy
Sept. 1 – Neil Davis Quintet
Oct. 6: Jali Kunda, Keba Diabate, Yaya Kambaye,and friends

In addition to the series, the market is lining up weekly live music appearances by local musicians Ron Plevak, The Twin Tones, Roxie Beane and others.

The market's 20-week summer schedule runs Thursdays, 3-7 p.m., through Oct. 13, on 11th Avenue south of Milwaukee Avenue, across from Bucyrus International.

Attendees are asked to bring their lawn chairs for all shows.

Visitors may notice a new stage and an improved grassy seating area, projects led by a pair of local Eagle Scouts, Tommy Mitchell and Scott Wawrzyniak. Donations for the stage construction are welcomed.
