Learn, laugh and get a little creeped out during the immersive, interactive and historically inventive tour, “Spirits of the Silent City: Unfinished Business.” The spooky stroll takes place three evenings, Oct. 20-22, at the Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum, 2405 W. Forest Home Ave.
Organized by Caper Company Tours, the event introduces guests to distinguished, departed citizens of the cemetery such as Noel Wright, Byron Kilbourn, Ezekiel Gillespie and Dr. Laura Wolcott as portrayed by professional actors.
“The spirits on these tours come to life through historical research, powerful performance and, yes, some artistic license,” says Forest Home Cemetery Assistant Executive Director Sara Tomilin.
Guided, ticketed tours run 60-75 minutes long. Tour groups of 20 depart from Forest Home’s Victorian Garden every 15 minutes from 6 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. The tour route comprises one mile of paved walking paths and low, grassy hills.
Caper Company Tours will use stage lighting and technology throughout the tour to ensure that all spirits are clearly seen and heard. Silent City tourists must be 12 or older.
“Every soul on this tour once lived. Every story they bring us is rooted in fact, yet ‘haunted’ by unanswered questions. Silent City tourists should be ready to learn and laugh among the spirits and even answer a few of their questions," says Tomilin.
The cost is $45 per person and available for purchase here.
