Splash Studio in the Third Ward announced today that it is in the process of expanding and will more than double the size of the space.

Splash is a bar and group painting studio where people of all painting levels can receive instruction – or not – and create a work of art.

The owners have taken over the vacant space next door and are building a new Splash session studio room, featuring a full bar and multimedia equipment that can be used to host private events.

The expansion will also include space for painting customers, two new bathrooms, a multipurpose storage space for materials and art supplies and an office. It will be able to accommodate more than 250 people.

The new space will be open to the public starting on New Year’s Eve and will be available for private events starting in March 2014.

"Since opening in March 2012, we’ve been thrilled to see the Milwaukee community get excited about coming together to create art," says co-owner Marla Poytinger.

For whatever it's worth, I went to Splash in 2012 and had a grand time.
