We may still have another hot spell or two this season, but overall, it looks like fall is here to stay – followed by that really cold season that technically lasts three months but feels like half a year.

So basically what we’re saying is it’s time to get your home ready for what we like to call the "cozy season."

OnMilwaukee’s Carolynn Buser recently visited our Menomonee Falls store and interviewed Decorating Solutions Interior Designer Amanda Walters about some simple ways to make your space a little cozier.

They focused on fireplaces and warm accessories. As Amanda explains, Steinhafels has a fireplace for every style.

"A fireplace is a really great way to bring a heat source into your house," Walters says. "We have a variety of looks – industrial, modern, farmhouse – so you can pick them to match your style. We also can do different fireboxes in them. Some of them have a real wood look to them, and others have more of a modern, crystal look to them."

She adds that many of the fireboxes have fun bells and whistles – like bluetooth speakers, cabinets and barn doors.

Amanda also gave Carolynn some tips for warming up a room with accessories.

"Accessories are a great way to bring in different textures and warmth to your room," she says. "Here we have a shag rug that is really plush and cushy. We also brought in a throw with a bigger knit to it – kinda chunky and warm. There are a lot of different ways to do this, and change the colors for the season as well."
