Get into vacation mode by taking a selfie on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan. Surrounded by rolling dunes and an expansive beach, Kohler-Andrae State Park is a serene beachfront destination right in your backyard. Looking to stay overnight? The park features 135 family campsites, 68 with electrical hookups.

Kettle Moraine State Forest – Lapham Peak

For those unafraid of heights, a trip to Kettle Moraine State Forest’s Lapham Peak observation tower is a must. The 45-foot observation tower affords a stunning view from atop the highest point in Waukesha County. For those that would rather keep two feet on the ground, the park's topography provides excellent hiking, backpacking and skiing opportunities with more than 22,000 acres of glacial hills and lakes. Before you leave, head to the Old Ski Hill overlook and take a photo at the Travel Wisconsin selfie stand. 

MacKenzie Center

Interested in becoming one with nature? Visit the MacKenzie Center, just 25 miles north of Madison and one of the most diverse education centers in Wisconsin. With interpretive trails, exhibits, museums, and programming available for school and youth groups, MacKenzie is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the natural world. A bonus: The State Game Farm is connected to the MacKenzie Center and is adjacent to the arboretum on the western half of the property. Once you’ve explored all the site has to offer, say cheese and smile at the selfie stand located in front of the Nelson Cabin. 

Big Bay State Park – La Pointe

Headed up north? Make a note to detour to Big Bay State Park, located on Madeline Island. The largest of 22 Apostle Islands, this 2,350-acre park is home to rugged wooded cliffs with dramatic views of Lake Superior. The 1.3-mile boardwalk is the perfect place to stroll and stop for a photo at the selfie stand conveniently located at the end. The nearby picnic grounds and seven miles of hiking trails make this an ideal getaway for a family excursion. 

Lake Kegonsa State Park

Shhh! Wisconsin has a secret for you: Lake Kegonsa State Park in southern Wisconsin. This park offers a variety of recreation alongside a 3,200-acre glacier-hewed lake. The lake provides the perfect place to swim, fish, water-ski, sail and boat. Land lubbers will enjoy the expansive prairie, forest and marsh habitats which offer a variety of camping, hiking, picnicking and skiing opportunities. After a long day of activities, grab a picture at the selfie stand located on the beach.
