The numbers are in on the 2016 Wisconsin State Fair, and for the fourth straight year, out fine state's cream puff-apolooza cracked a million in attendance.

The State Fair reported today that 1,015,815 people attended this year's edition. For comparison's sake, over the past four years of breaking one million in attendance, that hefty total ranks behind last year's total (1,033,053) and 2014 (1,030,881), but still comes out ahead of 2013's attendance (1,012,552).

The State Fair also tallied up some other fun 2016 fair facts, including that this year's fest hosted 1,065,000 rides on SpinCity, used 660,000 pounds of ice and sent 150,000 slides down the Giant Slide.

And then there are the food freakshow numbers, including:

  • 315,000 Original Cream Puffs eaten
  • 105,000 ears of corn noshed from New Berlins Lion's Club
  • 55,000 grilled cheese sandwiches chomped up
  • 50,000 Wisconsin baked potatoes scarfed down
  • 5,000 Klement's Famous Racing Sausages corn dogs devoured

That's just plain impressive, Wisconsin.

Look forward to racking up some more impressive numbers next year when the Wisconsin State Fair lights back up Aug. 3-13.
