Two years ago, Sullivan's replaced Swig at 1227 N. Water St.  Swig moved to the Third Ward and owners Joe and Angie Sorge transformed the space into a sports bar and lounge.

Today, to kick off the new year, the couple (which also owns Water Buffalo and AJ Bombers) transforms Sullivan's into a smoke-free establishment.

Sorge said, via e-mail, "As of Jan. 1 Sullivan’s will be going smoke free.  The decision is mostly based on the satisfaction of our guests at our other locations being pleased to spend their evenings with us and not go home smelling like an ashtray.

"We’re very pleased with the city wide non smoking plan in July, but wanted to get a head start, sorta of a 'kick the habit with us' New Year's resolution," added Sorge.
