We said late last week that Summerfest would have some big announcements coming up shortly about next summer's special 50th anniversary. Lo and behold, this morning, the Big Gig announced its first two headliners for next year's Biggest Gig: the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pink.
The veteran Cali-rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers will take the Marcus Amphitheater stage first, serving as Summerfest's opening night headliners on June 28. The night will mark RHCP's first visit to Milwaukee since 2012's stop at the BMO Harris Bradley Center – as well as their first Summerfest gig since 2000 when they headlined the Amp with the Foo Fighters.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are currently in the midst of their "The Getaway" world tour in support of their new album of the same name, but one can safely assume they'll mix in at least a few of the many hits they've amassed over their decades of existence – "Californication," "Scar Tissue," "Under the Bridge," "Dani California," just to name a few – to go along with the new material too.
Then, on July 2, Pink – who just this weekend made the news announcing she's pregnant with her second child – will take her turn on the Big Gig's biggest stage, marking her first North American concert date since 2014. The three-time Grammy winner's is most famous for her punky pop rock hits – including "Get The Party Started," "Just Like a Pill," "So What," "Raise Your Glass" and "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" – but most recently, the singer joined forces with country star Kenny Chesney for the single "Setting the World on Fire."
Tickets for both shows go on sale starting Friday, Nov. 18, with Pink's going on sale beginning at 10 a.m. and Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets going on sale at noon. As always, tickets include general Summerfest admission. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Summerfest box office, Ticketmaster ticket centers and Walmart stores, as well as online at Ticketmaster.com and over the phone either through the Summerfest box office (414-273-2600), through a live Ticketmaster agent (1-800-745-3000) or through Ticketmaster's automated ticket line (1-866-448-7849).
