This morning, Summerfest announced that June 29 during this year's upcoming festival would be Throwback Thursday, featuring both old-school daytime headliners and prices thrown back thanks to special discounts and ticket deals.

Festival goers can nab four free Summerfest tickets, valid for June 29 (noon to 6 p.m.), for every $50 they spend at a Pick 'n Save location from May 10 through June 13. The admission deal comes printed at the bottom of the receipt and must be redeemed in person on June 29 at the Summerfest box office. Customers are limited to three offers, or a total 12 Summerfest tickets, per transaction.

In addition to the Pick 'n Save ticket offer, the Big Gig will also throw back its prices with a beverage discount on June 29. From noon until 6 p.m. on Throwback Thursday, all beverages – excluding ice cream drinks and smoothies – will be 50 percent off.

All of these Throwback Thursday deals come complete with a line-up of old-school daytime headliners including;

  • Foghat: 4 p.m. at the BMO Harris Pavilion
  • Tommy Tutone Band: 4 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage
  • Fishbone: 4 p.m. at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard
  • Slaughter: 4 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse
  • The Suburbs: 4 p.m. at the Miller Lite Oasis
  • The Church: 5 p.m. at the Uline Warehouse
  • Berlin, featuring Terri Nunn: 5:30 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage
  • Soul Asylum: 5:30 p.m. at the Miller Lite Oasis

"Throwback Thursday celebrates five decades of bringing music to the community with a nod to the past, featuring performances by Foghat, Berlin and more," said Summerfest president and CEO Don Smiley, in a press release. "To keep the celebration going, we will carry over the retro feel of the day with some of our evening headliners on June 29: Toto, Peter Wolf, Brian Setzer and Hanson. Since 1968, we have hosted the best in the music business, and Throwback Thursday is certainly a day to reflect and reminisce."

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
