Look, over at The Social. It's a bird, it's a plane. No! It's the super line-up of The Super Powers, playing together for the first time in a long while.

The Super Powers play live dub, a trippy instrumental reggae style normally created in the studio, mixing funky driving drum beats, guitar, sinewy bass, keyboards and effects galore.

All the instruments go through a mixing board and effects processor, so that any of the instruments' sounds can be altered and effected during the live performance, giving the music an eerie quality.

This is a side project to a side project, so The Super Powers don't play much, but the high caliber of musicianship in the band makes up for it. The Super Powers comprise The Noble Brothers -- Andy on bass and Tommy on guitar -- Sage Schwarm (a founding member of Citizen King and the man behind the Hi-Fi Cafe) on effects mixing and keyboards, Craig Walsh on the drums, Nate Vest on percussion and Eric Beaumont aka Eric Blowtorch on guitar. Most of the band's members also perform with The Thousandaires and Blowtorch also performs as a soloist.

Last year the band released a CD, "Flame On!!!"

Check out the Noble Brothers spinning their music at The Social, for House of Bamboo, every second and fourth Friday of the month.
