Anytime a person stars in a reality television show, drama will most likely ensue. Such is the case with Luann de Lesseps, otherwise known as "The Countess," who was a main cast member Bravo’s "The Real Housewives of New York City." Currently, she is on tour with her cabaret show called "Countess and Friends."

"Countess and Friends" comes to The Pabst Theater on Sunday, May 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available here.

Lesseps struggles with family issues – including a 2009 divorce from French entrepreneur and aristocrat Count Alexandre de Lesseps, through whom she received her "Countess" title – as well as drinking and legal issues. But the 53-year-old model-turned-actor, author, philanthropist cabaret star is nothing if she isn't resilient and entertaining. So let's do this.

OnMilwaukee: You have successfully done so many things: acting, modeling, writing. What is your main talent or the one that really fulfills your soul?

The Countess: Thank you. I have had a very interesting life. I must say what I am doing right now really is speaking to my soul. I love doing my cabaret because I see the joy it brings the fans and how much fun they have at my shows. To give joy to others is the greatest gift.

You came from a family of six siblings. How did being a part of a large family enrich your life?

It was wonderful growing up in a big family (She was born in Connecticut in 1965 to a family with six children). I find when you grow up in a big family it teaches you to share and many wonderful life lessons such as resolving conflicts peacefully so it helped prepare me for my "Housewives" family.

What was your favorite episode of the show?

My favorite episode is when we got our puppy, Aston. He is my constant companion and best friend.

What should people experience when they come to see your show next month in Milwaukee?

I can tell you that everyone that comes to my show has a great time. My show is exciting, sexy and fun!

Care to share any beauty secrets? How do you stay looking so youthful?

Yoga. It transforms your mind and body. I feel it keeps me young and limber. I also think being happy is a key to beauty as well. If you are miserable it doesn’t matter how good you look because nothing brings out beauty more than a smile.

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday when you perform in Milwaukee. How has being a mother affected you personally and professionally?

My children are my greatest joy. They are accomplished artists in their own right and a great source of pride for me. I am lucky they have their own lives now and I can travel freely on tour. In the past I made decisions on what was best for them.

In Milwaukee, we have a high rate of alcoholism and many people have a challenging relationship with alcohol. What is your current relationship with alcohol and what can you say to others who are struggling?

You have to take it one day at a time. Every day is a struggle but I take my sobriety very seriously and have a wonderful support system. I encourage everyone struggling with the disease to take advantage of the resources that are available such as AA.

What is next for you?

I am very excited to announce I am putting the finishing touches on my next single. It will be out later this spring/summer. I have a wonderful statement necklace jewelry line with SuperJeweler and I am beginning to work on my next book. I will continue to tour, as well. Life is so good right now.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I am so looking forward to going to Milwaukee and I hope everyone has as much fun as we have bringing the show around the country on tour. Meeting the fans is nothing but pure joy for me. See everyone soon!
