Laughing Taco, the taqueria which opened at 1033 S. 1st St. in Walker’s Point, announced its closing this week on social media.

"It has been a great ride," reads the message, posted on both Twitter and Facebook, "And it is time for The Laughing Taco to move on. Our restaurant at South 1st St. will close its doors indefinitely on December 31st. We will continue our partnership with Fiserv Forum and the Bucks and we look forward to serving the community in a different capacity - as a catering and private events company.

"We are incredibly happy with our work, bringing a piece of Mexico to Milwaukee, and we are so grateful for how our community embraced us, especially during hard times. If you have any questions, comments or if you wish to know how to still have our delicious tacos, please contact us at - info@thelaughingtaco.com"

The 20-seat restaurant, owned by Chef Justin Carlisle and his wife Lucia Muñoz, took inspiration in the taquerias of northern Mexico, including those in Monterrey where Muñoz grew up.

The Laughing Taco space is available for private events, and the brand is also still available to cater events.
