’Tis Dining Month, the tastiest time of year! This means we’re dishing up fun and fascinating food content throughout October. Dig in, Milwaukee! OnMilwaukee Dining Month is served up by Potawatomi Casino Hotel

When Eric and his brother Craig Rzepka opened the doors of The Original at 2498 N. Bartlett Ave. in 2017, their goal was to offer guests an upscale experience showcasing seasonal, locally sourced fare in a casual, convivial environment. And, they’ve done so with Chef Vinny Cornils leading the kitchen and a dedicated group of staff members assisting in their vision.

But, seven years later, Eric Rzepka says that it’s time for him to move on. “Another professional opportunity has come along that I’d like to take advantage of,” he says, “So, I’m exploring a graceful exit for myself from restaurant ownership.”

As a result, he’s put the building in which The Original resides on the market. The Shorewest commercial listing showcases the property as a turnkey restaurant with rental properties above with an asking price of $805,000.

Rzepka says that the restaurant will continue to operate as-usual.

“Everyone who is here right now is dedicated to staying and giving it their all,” he says. “And the intention is to keep operating until the building sells. Beyond that, we’re open to a lot of different things. I know that there are folks who’d like to see The Original continue, and that could happen with the right buyer. But there are no guarantees.”

The Original is currently open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch.  The full menus are available online.
