{image1}Bob Olin, the owner of Sherman Perk and Kletzsch Perk coffee shops, will soon open a third cafe in Walker's Point. He is considering the name Walker's Point Perk, but will not decide until after he closes on the building next week.
"We don't have a nearby park this time to name the cafe after," says Olin, who grew up in Whitefish Bay and currently lives in Sherman Park. "Our customers have given us a lot of good ideas for names, so we'll see."
The new cafe will open around Jan. 15 at 810 S. 5th St. The building, which has housed an art gallery and a dance studio, is 115 years old.
Olin says this cafe will be more upscale than the others, with black marble countertops and soft lighting, and will focus on coffee drinks and desserts. It will also recognize the neighborhood's Latino culture.
"This cafe will have more of an intimate, evening feel," he says. "It will be a great place to go after eating at La Fuente, La Perla, Botanas or any of the other excellent restaurants in this area for coffee, dessert and conversation."
The building has a large back yard that Olin plans to use as patio space for outdoor dining and live music in summer. He will book a variety of bands, from folk to Latin.
"It will be a fun mix of live entertainment in about 100 months when the weather gets nice," he says.
Olin, 49, opened Sherman Perk in 2001 and Kletzsch Perk in 2002.
