In January, OnMilwaukee reported that The Irish Pub, located at 124 N. Water St., was shutting down temporarily for a revisioning and remodeling. And now we know what that new vision is: Tied House, a new bar concept paying tribute to the history of Milwaukee, its Third Ward home – which opened originally as a Pabst Brewery Tied House in 1904 – and, as the name suggests, beer.
Taken over by Adam and Melissa Weber, Tied House will host its grand opening on Monday, May 21, beginning at 4 p.m. But opening day is just one part of Tied House's planned grand opening week celebration, continuing through Thursday, May 24, with portions of its sales being "tied" to different local non-profit organizations.
In addition to complementary hors d'oeuvres, Tied House will donate 20 percent of its sales from 5 to 8 p.m. during those first four days to the following groups:
- Monday, May 21 – The Woman's Fund of Greater Milwaukee
- Tuesday, May 22 – Lincoln Avenue Stables Rotary Club of Milwaukee Project
- Wednesday, May 23 – The Alliance School of Milwaukee
- Thursday, May 24 – Skylight Music Theatre
After this opening week celebration, Tied House will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 1:30 a.m., as well as Saturday and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 2 a.m.
Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for a first look at this new blast from the past coming soon.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
