The Milwaukee Torrent Community Foundation announced Friday that it will be giving $18,750 in scholarship money to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee for 75 students to attend the Torrent’s soccer camp, July 11-15.

The camp will be headlined with six coaches from German powerhouse Bayern Leverkusen. Torrent players, coaches and staff will also be in attendance assisting the youth players.

"We are excited that the Torrent are bringing professional outdoor soccer back to Milwaukee and thrilled that the team is sharing its enthusiasm for being outside with our Club kids by sponsoring 75 of our youth to attend Camp Whitcomb/Mason this summer," said Vincent Lyles, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. "Summer camp is a life changing experience for our kids, and we thank the Torrent for their support."

The Milwaukee Torrent Community Foundation is a two-fold process: to nurture the values and attributes that positively impact children and their families by providing educational and athletic opportunities to youth through the game of soccer.

Milwaukee Torrent owner Andy Davi issued a statement on the news. "It’s a great first step to provide soccer for kids in the inner city," said Davi. "No soccer organization has ever before donated 75 scholarships for a camp with international coaches from the highest level possible.

"We are proud that the Milwaukee Torrent could do it."
