The coronavirus pandemic has changed our everyday life, but it doesn't need to change who we are. So, in addition to our ongoing coverage of the coronavirus, OnMilwaukee will continue to report on cool, fun, inspiring and strange stories from our city and beyond. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay informed and stay joyful. We're all in this together. #InThisTogetherMKE

Like most festivals this summer, the East Side Summer Soulstice Music Festival is unfortunately canceled due to COVID-19. The popular event would have taken place on June 20 and celebrated its 20-year anniversary.

"However, this event is too beloved to let pass without a tribute or acknowledgment, so we decided to host a virtual Tribute to Soulstice," reads the Facebook post.

The online event / contest takes place from Monday, April 27 through Sunday, June 14 and will feature one local East Side business per week that's supported Summer Soulstice in the past. The public is invited to send a cherished photo, video or written memory of the business and in doing so will automatically be entered to win a $25 gift card to that business.

Memories can be sent via Facebook, Instagram or vi email: intern@theeastside.org.

Here is the list of the businesses and when they will be featured:

  • Week of April 27: Milwaukee Film
  • Week of May 4: Crossroads Collective
  • Week of May 11: Hooligan’s
  • Week of May 18: Ian’s Pizza
  • Week of May 25: Izzy Hops
  • Week of June 1: Hacienda Brewing Co.
  • Week of June 8: Von Trier

"This is an opportunity to have fun or be strategic! Choose a week to submit all your memories if you’re angling for a gift card to a particular business, or submit them throughout the Tribute for a chance to win any of the 7 gift cards," reads the Facebook post.

All of the weekly winners will be announced the week of June 20.
