The Downtown Milwaukee Trolley loop will take visitors and locals to many of Milwaukee’s most interesting neighborhoods, outdoor events, restaurants, museums and more this summer, Milwaukee Downtown (B.I.D. #21) announced Tuesday at the group's annual meeting at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

The bright red Trolleys will operate Wednesday through Sunday starting May 31, and will be free of charge. Hours of operation are 11 a.m to 10 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 12 midnight, Fridays and Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The trolleys will operate on 30-minute loops with stops in East Town, Westown, Water Street, Brady Street, Old World Third Street and the Historic Third Ward. Last season, the trolleys were $2 for an all-day ride and nearly 25,000 people rode the vehicles.

Many organizations and businesses have committed to funding the trolleys for the 2006 season. They include: Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, Historic Third Ward Association, Brady Street Business Improvement District, East Town Association, Westown Association, The Shops of Grand Avenue, VISIT Milwaukee, Spirit of Milwaukee, Brady Area Foundation for Arts and Education, Hilton Milwaukee City Center, Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, The Pfister Hotel, Towne Realty, Inc., Milwaukee RiverWalk District, Old World Third Street Organization, Usinger Foundation, and Milwaukee County Transit System.
