For the eighth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Locavore, the newest restaurant at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2014."
Last week, Major Goolsby’s applied for a food and tavern license for the Turner Hall Restaurant space, 1038 N. 4th St. The restaurant most likely will reopen in mid November.
According to owner Pat Murphy, very few details about the restaurant have been worked out because it all happened very quickly. Murphy says he had not been scouting locations for another restaurant but decided to jump on this opportunity when it was presented.
"It happened very quickly," says Murphy.
Murphy says the menu is still in the early stages of development, but wings and burgers will definitely be on the menu. The name of the new restaurant is uncertain as well, but will most likely have "Turner Hall restaurant" in it.
The decor will remain the same.
The restaurant closed this summer and officials from the BMO Harris Bradley Center -- which took over operation of the restaurant in 2012 -- later said they would no longer operate it.
"We're going to try it out for the short term and see how it goes," says Murphy. "We know how to get people in, give them good food and good service, and get them to a show or an event on time. We've been doing that at Goolsby's for 42 years."
