Thursday night marked night two of Fiserv Forum’s triple-header of concerts this week, as Tyler, the Creator brought his headlining tour to Milwaukee. Following Dua Lipa’s showstopping performance and one night before the Imagine Dragons’ anticipated return, Tyler’s “Call Me If You Get Lost” tour was great fun start to finish thanks to the tour’s production and talented cast of artists.
Here are our five reasons you shouldn’t have missed Tyler’s Thursday night performance at Fiserv Forum.
1. His set design was awesome
Tyler’s set design was a dream for any Wes Anderson fan. From the huge turquoise mansion that set the backdrop to the luxury car and boat that helped him travel between the main stage and B-stage, the Los Angeles rapper spared no expense for his biggest headlining tour to date. Comparing his past visits at The Rave to last night’s performance, Tyler has only elevated his live shows for the benefit of his loyal fanbase.
2. Vince Staples got the crowd warmed up
Tyler certainly did not travel to Milwaukee alone, as he brought his longtime friend Vince Staples along for the ride. The Odd Future adjacent rapper performed a 13-track setlistcapped off with his “Summertime ‘06” single, “Norf Norf." While Staples had the least production of all the artists on the line, he brought his set to the B-stage to give the fans near the back a close up view of the action.
3. Thursday was the first rap concert at Fiserv since COVID
Rap fans in Wisconsin had been craving a huge rap concert in Milwaukee since the pandemic. While a number of big rappers made appearances at Summerfest this past summer, last night marked the biggest rap show in the city in years. If you consider yourself a fan of hip-hop, Fiserv Forum was the place to be last night.
4. Kali Uchis is a headliner in her own right
Fans certainly got their money’s worth yesterday. Following performances from Vince Staples and Teezo Touchdown, Kali Uchis blessed the stage before Tyler delivered his headlining set. Uchis showcased her beautiful vocals for a 15-track set capped off with her hit single, “Telepatía." Kali Uchis is a headliner in her own right, so a lengthy supporting performance from the Interscope singer was a great bonus.
5. Tyler, the Creator’s energy is limitless
Tyler, the Creator is on a very short list of rappers who have limitless amounts of energy while performing on stage. From the beginning of the performance – with songs like “Sir Baudelaire” and “Lumberjack” to his melody of early hits like “Yonkers” and “Smuckers” – Tyler took zero breaks throughout the night. Sprinting across both stages, screaming at the top of his lungs, it’s a medical wonder how Tyler and his trusted inhaler can survive a full show, much less a massive headlining tour. A Tyler, the Creator show is definitely something that every rap fan needs to witness for themselves.
