It’s National BBQ Day, and UberEATS has teamed up with a few fine Milwaukee barbecue restaurants to help the city celebrate this tasty occasion. Today only, users of Uber’s on-demand food delivery network will have access to special deals from local favorites Ashley’s Barb-B-Que, Famous Dave’s and Mister Bar-B-Que.

At Ashley’s, 1501 W. Center St., you can get a dinner-for-two special of rib tips with a choice of three sides and two sodas for $13; from Famous Dave’s, 5077 S. 27th St. in Greenfield, when you buy a slab of ribs, you’ll get the second one half off; and Mister Bar-B-Que, 5908 N. 76th St., will offer two options – a free BBQ brat or BBQ hot link with the purchase of every small meal plate, or the option to buy a slab and get a small rib tip free.

To take advantage of these delicious BBQ deals, you need only to login to your UberEATS account. The specials will appear in a banner at the top of the app upon opening; enter the location where you’d like your meal to be delivered and then track your food as it arrives. If you are a new user, download the free UberEATS app for iOS or Android, then create an account by using your email address and phone number, and by adding payment information.

These deals will run during normal restaurant business hours. Ashley’s Barb-B-Que and Famous Dave’s are open today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Mister Bar-B-Que is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

UberEATS, which started in 2014 as a small food delivery pilot in Los Angeles, is now available in more than 50 cities around the world, through a standalone app and ubereats.com. Read about its Milwaukee launch in February here.

Born in Milwaukee but a product of Shorewood High School (go ‘Hounds!) and Northwestern University (go ‘Cats!), Jimmy never knew the schoolboy bliss of cheering for a winning football, basketball or baseball team. So he ditched being a fan in order to cover sports professionally - occasionally objectively, always passionately. He's lived in Chicago, New York and Dallas, but now resides again in his beloved Brew City and is an ardent attacker of the notorious Milwaukee Inferiority Complex.

After interning at print publications like Birds and Blooms (official motto: "America's #1 backyard birding and gardening magazine!"), Sports Illustrated (unofficial motto: "Subscribe and save up to 90% off the cover price!") and The Dallas Morning News (a newspaper!), Jimmy worked for web outlets like CBSSports.com, where he was a Packers beat reporter, and FOX Sports Wisconsin, where he managed digital content. He's a proponent and frequent user of em dashes, parenthetical asides, descriptive appositives and, really, anything that makes his sentences longer and more needlessly complex.

Jimmy appreciates references to late '90s Brewers and Bucks players and is the curator of the unofficial John Jaha Hall of Fame. He also enjoys running, biking and soccer, but isn't too annoying about them. He writes about sports - both mainstream and unconventional - and non-sports, including history, music, food, art and even golf (just kidding!), and welcomes reader suggestions for off-the-beaten-path story ideas.
