This last Saturday was the latest edition of Tarik Moody's concert series called Unlooped. For those who aren't familiar with Unlooped, Moody gathers together talented musicians from different genres to create a live performance of unprecedented creativity.
Recently Moody changed up the focus of Unlooped and decided to make it a "versus" style event, where he gathers different musicians from different backgrounds and attempts to tackle the catalog of a legendary artist.
The first artist in the "versus" edition of Unlooped was Detroit's Jay Dee, also known as J Dilla or Dilla Dog. You can read more about the motivation for the new Unlooped in my interview with Tarik here.
For those who weren't able to attend the evening, or for those who wish to re-live the experience, Moody uploaded the audio from the event to Radio Milwaukee's Soundcloud page.
Though I wasn't able to be there due to distance and family scheduling, listening to this audio makes me imagine that the vibe of the night was extremely special.
Check out the audio right here and enjoy.
Born in Milwaukee and raised in the Milwaukee suburb of Brown Deer, Concordia University Wisconsin alumnus Poppe has spent the majority of his life in or around the city and county of Milwaukee.
As an advocate of Milwaukee's hip-hop community Poppe began popular local music blog Milwaukee UP in March 2010. Check out the archived entries here.
Though heavy on the hip-hop, Poppe writes about other genres of music and occasionally about food, culture or sports, and is always ready to show his pride in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
